The actress, currently doing the promotional rounds for her new action film Salt, says her partner Brad Pitt almost had a role in the movie but child-care duties kept him away.

“He was almost going to be the motorcycle guy that I knocked down, and then he’d call me a bad name,” Jolie said.

“But he was with the kids that day, and we couldn’t work it out.”

The Oscar winner went on to discuss how the celebrity duo juggle their careers while caring for their six children.

“For example, (the four older children) all came with me to Cancun, and then I came back and spent a lot of time with the babies, because they couldn’t come. Then the girls came to D.C. as a girls’ trip. And the boys (Pax, six, and Maddox, eight) are having special boy-time with Dad back in Los Angeles,” she told USA Today.

On a life away from acting, Jolie admitted: “I like to be very busy. I’m kind of energised. I don’t sit down well … In the years to come, it’s not that I’m retiring. There’ll just be less films at some point.

“And I’d love to do other things. I’d love to live in Africa for six months and fly planes. I’d love to see what else there is to do. And artistically, I’m sure there are other things to do.”

Brad Pitt had a boys’ night out with sons Maddox and Pax

Maddox and Pax Jolie-Pitt joined their father and his younger brother Doug at Dave & Buster’s restaurant in New York City’s Times Square.

The boys spent the afternoon at the arcade restaurant, with Pax winning a giant stuffed animal after his father helped at the controls of an over-sized crane that grabs the toys.

And Maddox, eight, was taken with the life-size guns on the war game Razing Storm.

An eyewitness said the film star handed out game cards to children playing in the arcade, according to reports. But when a crowd began gathering, the group decided to leave.

The magazine reported that one onlooker yelled out, ‘I love Jennifer Aniston!’ to the amusement of his brother.

Pitt was spotted the previous day on the set of wife Angelina Jolie’s new film with their daughters Shiloh, three, and Zahara, who will be five next week.

The family has been braving the sub-zero temperatures in New York as Angelina finishes several re-shoots of her action flick Salt.

Angelina, 34, and partner Brad Pitt, 45, are parents to six young children and she said that she really is just like any other mothers around the world.

She said to Britain’s OK! magazine: “I am just a dedicated mother and really quite normal. I dedicate my free time to my United Nations work – I have a sincere interest in social issues.

“At the same time, my main focus is on my children. I want to be with them for the big moments in their lives.”

Angelina and Brad’s children vary in age from 14 months to eight years old and Angelina revealed the older children help their mum and dad with their younger siblings.

She said: “We have birthdays all year round! It’s chaos but we do manage somehow – we just try to have a wonderful time. Now the older kids get involved in planning the birthdays for younger kids.

“It’s one of the greatest pleasures of life.”
