Courteney Cox: “Fat Monica was so freeing
Actress Courteney Cox has revealed that she found it “freeing” to play the fat version of her character Monica in the hit series Friends.
The Cougar Town star, 45, made her comments in an interview with the Los Angeles Times looking back at the TV sitcom – which ran for ten years before ending in 2004.
Asked what she most liked about her neat-freak character, Cox told the US newspaper: “I loved any time she got super-competitive.
“The New Year’s Rockin’ Eve dance; the Thanksgiving touch football game with Ross.
“Fat Monica was so freeing!”
She added: “I could do anything because I was hidden under all that prosthetic make-up.”
But in real-life, the petite actress ate salad every day with castmates Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow.
She said: “Jennifer and Lisa and I ate lunch together every single day for ten years. And we always had the same thing – a Cobb salad.
“But it wasn’t really a Cobb salad. It was a Cobb salad that Jennifer doctored up with turkey bacon and garbanzo beans and I don’t know what…
“Because if you’re going to eat the same salad every day for ten years, it’d better be a good salad, right?”
