Spanish actress Penelope Cruz was so thrilled to receive an Oscar this year that she took it everywhere – including to the beach.
Cruz, who appears in the upcoming Nine, and is dating Javier Bardem – with marriage strongly rumoured to be on her cards – was awarded for her role in the flick Vicky Cristina Barcelona.
She said: “I have [my Oscar] in my house in Spain and I still haven’t found the right place for it. But for the first month when I won I was so excited about it, I took it everywhere with me. I took it – this is true – I even took it to the beach one day and put it under a towel.”
Nine is jam-packed with Oscar winners besides Cruz. Daniel Day-Lewis, Nicole Kidman, Marion Cotillard, Sophia Loren and Dame Judi Dench all appear in the made-for-screen adaptation of the stage musical.
