Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly set to become football’s first billionaire.
The 24-year-old used to play for Manchester United and now plays for Spanish club Real Madrid. Tycoons are reportedly offering him £1.5 million per game to show off his skills in friendly matches.
Experts are said to be tipping that he will become sport’s next billionaire after golfer Tiger Woods.
Club Real Madrid are said to be considering a number of games in the Middle East and are planning to make Ronaldo their star player.
Oil barons in Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Qatar are reportedly willing to pay up to £3 million a game for the Spanish team to play matches during their winter break.
It is claimed the £3 million fee would be split between the club and Ronaldo, which would give him a staggering £16,000 for each minute on the pitch.
A source said: “Real Madrid are the team of the moment and Ronaldo is the player everyone wants to see. He is the key to the deal.
“These wealthy businessmen are willing to break the bank to get him to play at their local stadium. Money really isn’t an obstacle for these people.”
