Penelope Cruz dazzled Cannes goers despite a food poisoning episode by appearing in a flowing strapless lavender gown at last night’s screening of Broken Embraces (Los Abrazos Rotos), a film by Pedro Almodovar.

She entered the theater to a standing ovation, it was reported.

Cruz, who often wears a tight up-do for the red carpet, let her brunette hair fall freely.

The actress was reported as confined to bed with food poisoning earlier this week.

She was expected to attend the after-party for Broken Embraces and was also snapped the night before at the Hollywood Domino party in another low-cut gown with a matching bolero jacket, but looking slightly tired.
