People in Bellevue, Washington, who had paid to party with R&B singer Ne-Yo on New Years eve at Bellevue’s Meydenbauer Center were majorly disappointed when he was a no show. With tickets ranging from $75-$1200 for a VIP table, party goers were not informed until about a half-hour before midnight that Ne-Yo wasn’t going to appear.

One party guest, Michael Brandt, said “Everything from the tickets to the Web site indicated that Ne-Yo would be there.”

He added:

“At 11:30 they had a pre-recorded message from Ne-Yo. He was on a plane from Nigeria and not able to come. They probably knew a day in advance. They could have cancelled or given a refund.”

Interestingly enough, Ne-Yo did perform on Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve TV show… though it’s possible that the segment may have been pre-recorded.

The Meydenbauer concert, had been promoted for weeks on KUBE 93. KUBE program director Eric Powers said:

“We were told by the record label and the promoter that it was a done deal, so we were taken aback just like our listeners.”

And about 300 tickets were sold through the sponsor Wet Entertainment. The company’s owner said he’ll be consulting his legal team.

For those wanting their money back it may be difficult since the sponsors, Wet Entertainment, can’t be found on the web any longer, same for the local marketing manager, his phone number doesn’t work anymore.

Guess we’ll have to wait to see what Ne-Yo has to say about this.
